Creative Director
We’re searching for another inspiring leader to join the BDB creative team. Someone that can nurture BDB’s creative people and unlock a new level of creative thinking for BDB and its clients across Europe.
At BDB, a Creative Director is expected to lead the development of innovative solutions that leverage influential figures and independent creators to change consumer behaviour towards brands; including but not limited to campaign concepts, activations and executions.
A Creative Director is expected to raise the level of creative thinking from BDB colleagues within the creative team and across the wider agency too. This role will discuss, debate and advise people across the agency on a broad range of topics that positively impact creativity (eg. ways of working, ideation techniques, departmental structure).
A Creative Director will manage creative team members, taking responsibility for their goals, career progression and overall performance. This role will lead multiple people and multiple projects concurrently.
This role needs:
Someone who’s self-motivated & proactive.
Someone who comes up with creative solutions, relentlessly.
Including solutions people didn’t even know they needed.
Someone who will encourage playfulness & fuel incredible creativity, but who’s also comfortable talking ‘business’ with our European Leadership team.
Someone who will advocate for great creativity across the entire business, and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty making great creative work happen.
Someone who is excited by creators, influencers, culture and people.
Someone who loves design, and working with talented designers.
Someone with a wide range of professional creative marketing experience.
In this role…
Creative Direction
- You’ll set the most compelling (yet feasible) creative direction across BDBs project and pitch work in Europe, and be responsible for the ideas developed by the creative team.
- You’ll set longer term creative visions for some of BDBs key client relationships, pushing their brands into new, unexpected creative territories that drive greater impact with consumers.
- You’ll interrogate creative briefs, then define and clearly communicate what the creative team should deliver as an output on any brief, including spotting opportunities that may not be clearly mentioned.
- You’ll provide initial commercial and strategic review of ideas when developing concepts and executions (cost, impact, feasibility, timeline, etc)
Department Leadership
- You’ll contribute to and be partly responsible for the business performance of the creative department as well as the creative performance (profitability, perception in the industry, etc)
- You’ll understand the state of the European market and continually identify future opportunity areas for the BDB creative dept to grow into, co-developing the team vision with the Executive Creative Director.
Leadership and Mentorship
- You’ll be expected to help in creating the conditions needed for creative success on a project (information needed in the brief, timings, process, clarity of output, etc)
- You’ll be confident in managing and coaching Jnr, Mid and Snr creative personnel on a day to day basis, guiding career progression, objective setting, and where necessary having difficult conversations situations to improve performance.
- You’ll display a broad knowledge of creative techniques, processes, responses and styles outside of your own personal preference, that you’ll use to guide and develop a variety of different types of creative thinkers in the team.
- You’ll proactively consider and implement new initiatives and new offerings that would help to evolve BDB as a company, supporting the Executive Creative Director to define the vision for Creative at BDB.
- You’ll advocate for creativity and creative effectiveness, establishing yourself as a clear voice of authority for creator-powered creativity, within our agency and within the wider industry too.
Client Relations
- Though you won’t be solely responsible for client relationships, you’ll be expected to form and maintain client relationships at a senior level, representing BDBs current creative work but also helping the client with future opportunities for creativity with BDB.
A Few Key Requirements
- Experience setting creative direction for projects, and setting longer term creative visions for clients.
- A diverse range of work and project experience, (must include experience in developing creative for social media).
- An optimistic view of what’s possible, in general
- Ability and desire to inspire others (with presentations as well as in everyday interactions)
- Experience of positive client relationships at a senior level
- Exceptional ability in working collaboratively with other departments (Strategy, Design, Production and Client Services)
- Ability to develop creative work in the absence of a concrete process or structure.

Our Culture
Our mission is to redefine advertising by reflecting culture through the voices of creators, where creativity is democratized, and technology is the driving force behind impact. We champion equity and inclusion, and believe that diversity sparks creativity, problem-solving, and well-being. Along with fostering these values, BDB is committed to being the most innovative creator marketing agency in the world through initiatives like FiveTwoNine and Muse.
Our Values
We believe one of the biggest issues advertising agencies face is reputational. Our vision is to change that by setting a new standard of advertising with a greater social purpose, where creativity is democratised, and technology drives efficiency and effectiveness.
Billion Dollar Boy has identified industry problems and potential solutions, leading to a set of Future Behaviours that should be adopted by every agency to positively change advertising as a whole:
Work with brands, but on behalf of people - Brands are clients, but agencies must prioritise people’s interests, educating brands on consumer importance and acting on behalf of the people.
Seek out less heard voices, act upon what they tell you - Diverse opinions and perspectives improve work and the world. Agencies must actively listen to and act on a broad range of voices.
Be fair to everyone, then you’ll have nothing to hide - Agencies should ensure objective and transparent reward structures to promote equality.
Treat your clients like friends and employees like best friends - Clients provide opportunities, but employees turn them into work. Agencies must prioritise employees' wellbeing.
Solve problems with a curious mind - Creativity involves original ideas. Agencies should explore unproven solutions and take risks for better outcomes, even if things aren’t broken.
-
Empower employees with a framework for freedom - Provide supportive structures without restrictions, allowing employees to make decisions and control their career progression within clear business parameters.
Equal Opportunities
We encourage employees to be open and confident and appreciate that every member of the team makes a vital difference.
Billion Dollar Boy embraces equality, diversity and inclusion and will seek to promote these benefits in all of our business activities.
When recruiting new employees or when affording our current employees with opportunities for promotion, it means that we will:
- Recruit, develop and retain the most talented people, regardless of their background and make best use of their talents;
- Not discriminate unlawfully against any person;
- Select the best person for the job in terms of qualifications and abilities.
- This sets out our approach to equal opportunities and the avoidance of discrimination at work.
- A part of what we offer at BDB is a considerate suite of competitive benefits, which will be discussed with you throughout the interview process
