Business Affairs Manager
Job Overview
In this role, you will develop and enhance the fundamental skills required for managing a successful business, including: dealmaking & negotiation, communication, contracts, collaborating with people in varied roles (e.g. Finance, Creative, Strategy), working under pressure & identifying and assessing risk.
Responsibilities
You will carry out varied work directly related to evaluating, negotiating & structuring deals, and advising on best practice in a range of business matters, including - but not limited to - talent & brand partnerships, production, content licensing and marketing services.
You will work closely with our UK and (where required) US teams, supporting them through all stages of dealmaking & in negotiations.
This will involve:
Live negotiation with talent agents and talent (e.g. influencers, creators, models, actors, online personalities);
Reviewing and negotiating talent contracts end-to-end;
Reviewing and negotiating brand-facing Campaign SOWs;
Reviewing and negotiating agreements with production partners;
Handling location releases/ talent release forms, production insurance and other production affairs admin matters and shoot processes;
Providing advertising regulatory and content clearance advice (ASA/CAP/ FTC and other global territories where Billion Dollar Boy advertises);
Familiarity with group client and partner talent agency processes (training will be provided);
Working closely with key stakeholders across the business (e.g. Finance, Client Services, Creative, Strategy), to ensure all negotiating positions are commercially approved and represent the agency’s best interests;
Supporting the Global Senior Business Affairs Manager other team members with SAG-AFTRA related matters (SAG-AFTRA experience desirable but not essential);
Being a direct port of call for Client Services, when they need support from Business Affairs;
Building relationships with talent agents and clients to promote streamlined deal negotiation;
Supporting on due diligence vetting of influencers and other talent.
You will develop strong commercial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will implement established talent negotiation, contracting and production processes.
You will support and ensure the smooth running of the administrative side of advertising productions.
You will support and manage music rights procurement, following established processes and liaising with our music studio partners.
You will successfully manage individual ad hoc projects and tasks from start to finish. Business Affairs is a versatile department with a varied workflow.
Skills & Attributes
3-6 years of professional experience in a related field (e.g. advertising/ media business affairs, TV/ Film/ Music production business affairs, contract management, talent agency background).
Any combination of qualifications or experience that can demonstrate the desired Attributes.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong multi-tasking and prioritisation skills.
Ability to keep a cool head in a fast-paced environment.
Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong negotiation skills: you will be working at the dealmaking heart of the business.
Importantly, a desire to make personal connections with colleagues and clients.
Appetite to learn about many different business areas and how they interact to make the business a success.
Genuine interest in business management and operations.
Entrepreneurial spirit.
Keen to build knowledge of the commercial deal-making market.
Solutions-oriented and able to critically evaluate commercial issues, suggesting ways they could be resolved.
